Terms of use

These terms govern access to FloodSense, provided by Astragrid Technologies Ltd (86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE). Where an organisation licenses FloodSense under a separate written agreement, that agreement takes precedence over these terms for its users.

Access

Access is invite-only and licensed to organisations. Accounts are provisioned by an administrator and must not be shared. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account.

Acceptable use

• Use the service only for its intended purpose and in line with your organisation's licence.
• Do not attempt to access another organisation's data, probe or disrupt the service, or reverse engineer it.
• Do not upload unlawful content or personal data you are not entitled to process.

Nature of the service (important)

FloodSense is a decision-support tool. It helps an authority maintain its flood-asset register and flags assets to inspect using Earth observation. A satellite signal is an indicative prompt, not a statutory determination. FloodSense does not replace site inspection, professional judgement, or the statutory duties of the Lead Local Flood Authority, the Environment Agency, or any risk management authority. Measurements carry a stated uncertainty and, where an asset is below satellite resolution, an indicative label.

Data protection

Our handling of personal data is described in our privacy policy. For customer data we act as processor under a Data Processing Agreement, summarised on our trust and security page.

Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Specific service levels, if any, are set out in the licensing agreement.

Intellectual property

The FloodSense application and its content are owned by Astragrid Technologies Ltd. Earth observation imagery is derived from the European Union Copernicus programme (Sentinel-2) under its open licence. Data you enter remains yours.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Subject to that, and given the decision-support nature of the service described above, our liability is as set out in the licensing agreement. FloodSense is provided to support, not replace, the authority's own decisions.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
